The Beekman School Merit Award

Scholarship for High School Students

We’re pleased to offer The Beekman School's Merit Award, a scholarship for high school freshmen and sophomores that offers each recipient 50 percent tuition remission for each year that he or she remains a student in good standing with a minimum 3.0 GPA. For students enrolled at Beekman for four years, this award will be worth nearly $100,000 in tuition value.
 
This private high school scholarship is designed to provide an opportunity for students to attend The Beekman School who may not have been able to do so otherwise. All new, incoming 9th and 10th grade students who earn a minimum 3.0 GPA during the current school year are eligible to apply.
 
Potential candidates must be full-time for the full academic year and must be U.S. citizens.
 
To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must complete the online admission application and note “The Beekman School Scholarship” in the comments section. The following application documents must also be submitted via email to Head of School Maren Holmen at marenh@beekmanschool.org:
 
  • One 500-word essay answering the question, "Other than academics, how do you plan to contribute to the Beekman community?"
  • Most recent transcript from the current school year
  • One letter of recommendation
 
Finalists and their parents will be contacted about setting up an interview at the school as part of the application process for all prospective Beekman students and families.

Which students are eligible for high school merit awards, scholarships, and/or financial aid?

The Beekman School merit scholarships are available for high school freshmen and sophomores. New students who are entering 9th or 10th grade can submit the required documents for merit award eligibility. They must also complete our school application and participate in our interview process. Financial aid forms and high school scholarship applications require students to provide specific information. This is also the case when students apply for our school merit award that offers tuition remission. 

There are various types of financial aid and scholarships for high school students in New York who wish to attend a private institution. We have chosen to establish a merit-based scholarship program to assist multiple new students by reducing their tuition responsibility. Students may also apply for tuition assistance through financial aid; learn more about financial aid at Beekman.
